Introducing FML Golf

OK, here is the theory. Brace yourself. Grab a strong brew!!

The Set-Up

We play nine CPU teams (EDIT: was 18 but it was decided to reduce to 9). For each match we take the number of goals score, minus the number of goals conceded, and this figure is the “par” for that match (which is effectively goal difference). We also make a note of whether the match is home or away.

We’ll be totally honest and take the first score against each team; so some pars will be negative as we lose a match.

Each set of nine matches makes up a “course” and so each course will have a par based on goal difference over the entire course.

Over the coming months we’ll be creating a number of courses with different levels of CPU and with different people setting the pars which should all give a variety of challenges.

Each course will have a leaderboard of 20 managers beneath.

So how do you get involved? I thought you’d never ask. :D

Playing the Courses

To play along, you find the first CPU team on the course, challenge them to a friendly, ensure that you select the correct location (home/away) and then play the match.

Your aim is to beat the par in each match but your overall target is to beat the par for the course.

To play the course properly you should be playing the CPU teams in the correct order and you only get one attempt at each team per “round” of 9 matches (if you make a mistake you could start the course again if you like). You can play other matches inbetween and a course could be played over a long period if you like. No challenge closes and you can have as many goes as you like.

Skillz

You can keep a record as you go and when you have completed a course, please comment below the challenge post as to how you have done.

For ultimate kudos we invite you to use your twitter account (which you can create for free here)… then use screenr, sign in to your twitter account, then record a video (or screencast if you want to get technical) to show your results against the teams, ensure you show the date/times and whether home/away. Scroll up and down to show the results from earliest date to latest.

You can then choose to give a description (we’d suggest using the #FMLGolf tag with some details), I’d then suggest publishing the video as a tweet to show off to the twitter folks plating FML. You can then upload to your youtube account if you want to.

From there you can either post a link to your screenr video or (better still) embed your youtube video in the comments below the challenge. :)

If you would like to get on the leaderboard you must make a video of your results and comment below the challenge with a link to the video/ embed youtube along with stating your overall goal difference. We’ll then update the leaderboard.

Easy eh?

Every now and again we’ll be running Golden Courses where there will be real-life prizes, so keep a look out for these special events.
